5th August
A day of highs and lows for Australia yesterday ;
.. John had a technical outlanding on the first leg of a day of high
winds, 25 to 30 kts, and rapid cycling, ie a high risk day.
.. David and Graham did very well to come 5th and 8th respectively. All
results still preliminary.
.. last night we had the Aussie Team party at the field. It was a low
budget affair and outstandingly successful. All the Team attended, with
major assistance from Beryl Hartley and her local friend Hans in organising
the catering details. Easily several hundred pilots and crews attended. We
all wore our shirts promoting the bid for Narromine for the Worlds for 2012.
Their were many questions and much interest. We can be sure it is known here
that Australia is bidding. It was a good night.
4th August
Preliminary results from yesterday indicate the difficulty
of the day.
In 18m only 15 of 50 gliders returned. John was one of
those and is 3rd for the day, on 542 points compared with winners 550.
Graham and David in a bunched field are 28-29th on 489 of
the winners 623.
Weather today has given us rain this morning. There is a
chance of a task window this arvo.

at Luesse,4200ft.

Graham and David at equal 5th, and John at 18th for
the second Practice day is a solid result, and with the organisation finally
agreeing that they have no further paperwork demands of us, we are just
about ready to go. John still has some fine tuning to complete on his
glider.
